Get to Know Racing 2 Read
This year, SeaFair partnered with the Lake Washington School District located just outside of Seattle, Washington to promote hydroplane racing while increasing literacy rates. The “Racing to Read” challenge encouraged middle school-age students to read more books. This competition was rolled out to seven middle schools, a total of over 7,000 students were exposed to racing, encouraging them to read books to earn tickets to SeaFair’s 2022 HomeStreet Bank Cup held August 5th-7th.

The Racing 2 Read Seafare: Unleash the Adventure, Prepare to Set Sail!

In total, over 900 tickets were awarded to students with well over 5,000 books read! The top schools also had boats and drivers on campus where they had the opportunity to meet the drivers, receive some “swag,” get into hydroplanes and even drive a racing simulator! Kirkland Middle School, the school with the highest number of participants also had their school logo on the side of Strong Racing’s U-9 Boitano Homes, as well as, the J-stocks. There were smiles from all involved and many new fans were created!
